Pineapple on a Pizza – Yes or No?

There are some things that you can easily rate on a 1 to 10 scale, but putting pineapple on a pizza doesn’t seem to be one of them. You either love it or hate it – or you go a step further and think it should never be allowed on a pizza. For anyone. Period. To some, the idea is so unfathomable that they have never even tried it. Others swear it makes a perfect accompaniment with ham, just like pineapple slices on a roast ham appeal to many.

Some are a bit outspoken on the topic of pineapple on pizza, such as the social media storm that resulted when the president of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, said it should never be allowed. His later statement was that he was happy he didn’t have the power to ban the ingredient even though it wasn’t his preference.

Whether you side with New Zealand’s prime minister, who is pro-pineapple or Gordon Ramsay, who is strongly against it, the sweet tang of pineapple will continue grace pizza parlors everywhere, and you can take it or leave it.  After all, Hawaiian pizza has been around since the early 1960s and doesn’t look like it is going away anytime soon. And in case you thought pineapple was the least popular, it might surprise you that nearly half of those polled by Slice liked pineapple, whereas only 14% like anchovies.

Here at Pie In The Sky Pizza, we don’t judge. If you want pineapple on pizza, that’s fine with us. Want to leave it for the roast pig at your next luau? That’s cool, also. If you are part of the 14%, we even have those unpopular anchovies too! For 30 years, we have enjoyed seeing the debate about toppings and the one thing we’ve come to realize is that it isn’t just the options offered; it is the freshness that matters. Come enjoy a slice with our special sauce and pizza dough made fresh daily for an experience you won’t soon forget.
